Rotterdam The Hague Airport opened LH₂ storage facility

24 November 2025

Rotterdam The Hague Airport has opened their liquid hydrogen storage facility at the airport, a world’s first! The facility enables research and development of hydrogen-powered aircraft and provides a platform to advance various research projects, including projects at Delft University of Technology, University of Twente, NLR, and AeroDelft. 20K Hydrogen has equipped the facility with a 125L liquid hydrogen dewar, vent stack, and filling connectors to enable refuelling of aerial vehicles. We are very much looking forward to the first field tests with liquid hydrogen.

Vent stack

Engineered for safe, controlled venting of cold hydrogen gas from a liquid hydrogen source. Our vent stacks are made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel for reliable performance in harsh conditions. They minimise noise, manage dynamic pressure fluctuations, and offer added protection against snow and water loads, ensuring safety for personnel and the environment.
