Refuelling station
Liquid hydrogen storage • Liquid hydrogen refuelling • Flexible configuration
Our refuelling station is a flexible system for storing and dispensing liquid hydrogen. Designed to refuel a decommissioned Airbus A320 for the Hydrogen Aviation Lab, a project for our client ZAL Center of Applied Aeronautical Research. It ensures liquid hydrogen is available to fill a client’s fuel tank when direct truck refuelling is unavailable. The containerised version can store up to 1500 L, with larger storage vessels placed outside the container for higher capacity needs. Ideal for remote or field settings, it supports applications in aviation, research, and industry.
Product scope
Our refuelling station is a versatile and modular system designed for efficient storage and dispensing of liquid hydrogen. It offers several configuration options to meet diverse client needs, including both containerised and non-containerised versions. The containerised version can store up to 1500 L of liquid hydrogen, while larger storage vessels can be placed outside the container for higher capacity requirements.
Available in manual or semi-automatic configurations, the refuelling station provides flexibility in control and automation based on operational preferences.
For the Hydrogen Aviation Lab, the refuelling station includes a liquid transfer connection (DN8 bayonet), an operating pressure range of 1 – 5 barg, a storage maximum filling rate of 30 g/s, and a client maximum filling rate of 10 g/s. The system supports a minimum filling time of 60 minutes under nominal operations, and uses purge gases such as helium, hydrogen, and nitrogen. It also features a PLC-based control system for seamless operation.
Quality and safety testing
Our refuelling stations are CE-marked and manufactured in full compliance with EN-13445 standard for unfired pressure vessels, providing reliable pressurised hydrogen storage for laboratories and testing environments. Each unit is certified to PED 2014/68/EU and ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU, and undergoes mandatory EC Unit Verification by an independent Notified Body, ensuring adherence to the EU’s safety regulations for hazardous fluids and high-pressure systems. To ensure operational integrity and safety, every refuelling station undergoes:
-
Functional product testing: Validation of system operability.
-
PED compliance tests: Verification of conformity with PED 2014/68/EU requirements.
-
Internal compliance tests: Integrity validation through helium leak detection and other internal assessments.
